Season of Sharing:
Community-Wide Campaign Built on Trust

As a community-wide campaign founded on collaboration and partnership, Season of Sharing has empowered neighbors to help neighbors, individuals, and families in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties who are in crisis regain stability. 

While Sarasota is ranked among Florida’s most affluent communities, hundreds of hard-working families are one paycheck away from the threat of homelessness. Our community’s most vulnerable are struggling to simply survive and provide for their families. To break this vicious cycle, one-time emergency financial assistance for immediate basic needs is key.

As a vital safety net, Season of Sharing is a trusted way for neighbors to support one another, whatever the crisis, be it hurricanes, Red Tide, economic downturns or even a global pandemic. 

As a reflection of our belief that anyone can be a philanthropist regardless of means, Season of Sharing is an open invitation to all members of our community to give what they can to empower and help their fellow neighbors. To this day, Season of Sharing remains a grassroots campaign that depends on generosity at all levels

Since its inception in 2000, this time-tested and trusted resource has distributed more than $42.5 million to more than 50,000 families and individuals who have been able to get back on their feet thanks to our community's generosity.

Many who are moved to support our friends and neighbors begin their philanthropic journey with Season of Sharing. And by offering help, we all can answer “yes” to give the gift of hope and embrace the simple yet powerful notion of “paying it forward.”
