Leonela Tase Suiero is Communications Intern for the 2022 Giving Challenge at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. In this role, Leonela will work closely with Hunter Carpenter, Senior Manager of Communications, with content development campaigns and strategies to build awareness of and support for the 2022 Giving Challenge.
Originally from Cuba, Leonela has been a Sarasota resident since 2012. The generosity, familiarity, and warmth the community offered her back then (toy drives, food drives, and even English tutoring) inspired great gratitude for local nonprofits and their passionate quest for the betterment of our region. Since then, Leonela has been dedicated to giving back through volunteering and working with various organizations whose missions align with her own, such as UnidosNow and Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, among others.
Currently, Leonela is a third-year student at the George Washington University pursuing a Bachelor's in Communication. As a Community Foundation scholarship recipient, she attributes much of her success to this support and the many donors who made it possible. She considers this new internship as an opportunity not only for professional and personal growth but also for demonstrating her appreciation for the Community Foundation's mission.
