A Sarasota-based nonprofit received a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to expand its mental health services program.
Harvest House, a nonprofit that provides housing and hunger relief throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties, announced its award on Monday. The money will help grow the organization’s Wellness Within Reach program, which provides mental health services onsite to the many children, adults, and families sheltered in a Harvest House facility who are experiencing homelessness, trauma, or housing instability.
“This support from the Community Foundation allows us to bring healing closer to the people who need it most,” Dan Minor, president and CEO of Harvest House, says in a release. “Mental health care shouldn’t be a luxury. It should be within reach for every child, adult and family seeking safety, stability, and hope.”
