Community Foundation of Sarasota County Accepting Scholarship Applications through March 1

SARASOTA, FL – Applications are being accepted through March 1 for the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s scholarship program for traditional students.

As one of the largest scholarship programs in the state of Florida, the Community Foundation awards more than $2 million each year to traditional and adult students. The program fulfills a wide arrange of academic aspirations and are awarded based on merit, need, or both. Only one application is needed to apply for all of the currently available scholarships.

“The Community Foundation of Sarasota County believes an investment in education is an investment in our community's future,” says Roxie Jerde, president and CEO. “And we believe that all who wish to further their education and increase future potential for success should have an equal chance to take advantage of the opportunities available to them.”

Scholarships range in amounts, however, applicants do have multiple opportunities to secure larger scholarships up to $100,000. This includes five coveted Lela D. Jackson Foundation Scholarships, which provide $50,000 to cover the cost of undergraduate tuition, housing, and textbooks, as well as graduate school if funds remain. The Bogner Family Scholarship will award $100,000 annually to two deserving high school seniors to attend a Florida college or university.

For nearly 30 years, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has changed the lives of students forever through educational scholarships. This work is made possible through forward-thinking donors, dedicated scholarship staff, and more than 80 community volunteers who carefully review applications and conduct thoughtful interviews.
