Twenty-twenty has been a year that has tested our grit, determination and wherewithal like no other in recent memory.
COVID-19 turned our collective world upside down in the spring and never let go, stressing families, undermining both small and large businesses alike and putting enormous pressure on safety-net programs throughout Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. The pandemic has hit hardest those most incapable of dealing with its impact.
The pain continues today and promises to be even more intense as COVID ramps up this winter and as the pool of relief provided by the federal government begins to dry up.
