2026 Year-End Giving Dates to Remember

Categories: Donors, Philanthropy, Professional Advisors,

The end of 2026 is right around the corner, as are deadlines for charitable giving. Here are dates to keep in mind as the year winds down:

  • Non-cash year-end gifts must be discussed with General Counsel Margaret Karakashian no later than Dec. 18, 2026. Qualified Appraisals will be required for all non-cash gifts of $5,000 or more.
  • IRA/QCD checks must be received no later than Monday, Dec. 21, 2026.
  • Gifts related to stock gifts and mutual funds should be coordinated through Controller Julie Avins on or before Monday, Dec. 21, 2026.
  • Checks sent via FedEx must be physically received at our office on or before Monday, Dec. 28, 2026.
  • Credit card contributions via our website should be made by Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026.
  • Checks sent via the United States Postal Service must be postmarked on or before Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026.
    • Please Note: The Postal Service has changed the way mail is processed and postmarked. A letter or envelope placed in a mailbox or dropped off at a post office may not receive its postmark until it reaches a regional processing facility. In some cases, that can take several days. Because the postmark may no longer reflect the date on which a donor actually mails a contribution, donors who want their check to be considered a 2026 gift should take an additional step to establish the mailing date. For donors mailing a check to us, we recommend that they visit a Postal Service counter by Thursday, Dec. 31 and choose one of these options:
      • Ask the postal clerk for a manual postmark.
      • Purchase postage that includes a Postage Validation Imprint.
      • Use Certified Mail or Registered Mail.
      • Obtain a Certificate of Mailing.
