Key Chorale has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to fund, in part, Key Chorale’s transformative Student Scholar Leadership Program, an initiative designed to develop not only exceptional young musicians, but also the next generation of leaders and engaged citizens. Specific funding for this grant was made possible by the Community Foundation’s John J. Weiss Memorial Fund, Allen Wirtz Nobbe and Jo Bowen Nobbe Fund and Martha Leiter and Nancy Streetman Fund II.

The Key Chorale Student Scholar Leadership Program equips gifted high-school musicians with the training, mentorship, leadership development, and real-world experience they need to excel in college and beyond. Designed for students with exceptional musical aptitude who plan to continue their studies after graduation, the program encourages both artistic and academic excellence, requiring participants to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Student Scholars are nominated by their choir directors and selected through a highly competitive process that includes personal interviews and vocal auditions.
