Supporting Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund for All Communities
Categories: COMMUNITY CARE: Emergency Needs & Disaster Relief, CEO Message,
Like you, we here at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County are watching news reports, hearing from our neighbors around the suncoast, and learning of the scale of damage left in Hurricane Ian's wake.
As we have done with other natural disasters, the Community Foundation is accepting contributions to our Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund. Thanks to The Patterson Foundation, a $500,000 gift has already been contributed to this fund. They are also offering a dollar for dollar match, up to $750,000, for additional contributions.
We are partnering with local nonprofit agencies, school districts, and the government to assess the situation. Through the Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund, we will collect dollars to distribute to recovery efforts Charlotte, DeSoto, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. We will be in close communication with our nonprofit colleagues to ensure the funds go to recovery efforts for our neighbors most affected by Ian, thoughtfully determining criteria for distribution by listening to our nonprofit partners and coordinating with local government and funders.
Contributions of all sizes are a way for caring hearts to be the one to support fellow neighbors during the long road to recovery ahead for our community. You can be assured the Community Foundation of Sarasota County will be excellent stewards of funds raised for this vital cause.
Thank you for being the one to care and give generously for those who will be affected by the hurricane. We are keeping everyone in our hearts.
