The Friends of the Lakewood Ranch Library recently surpassed their fundraising goal to support the Manatee County Public Library System by raising more than $410,000 to purchase children's books, large print materials and multicultural and bilingual books.

With support from the Manatee County Library Foundation, which provided a $200,000 match opportunity, the Fill the Shelves campaign raised $410,850. "Every board member was pleased to step forward to contribute to this most worthwhile need," said A. Donald Janezic, Jr., former library foundation board chair.

Additional support was received from the Bishop Parker Foundation, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, Lakewood Ranch Rotary, Manatee Community Foundation, Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, Willis Smith Construction, and hundreds of Manatee County residents.
