The National Alliance on Mental Illness Sarasota and Manatee Counties has received a generous Capacity Building Grant from the Jerome and Lillian Barnett Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

The grant will support YANA (You Are Not Alone), a peer-led service that includes a communal space where individuals living with mental illness can build a support system, learn life skills, participate in social activities, and focus on wellness.

In addition to making sure the new peer staff at YANA have computers and related equipment essential to do their jobs, the financial support will also provide needed hardware and connection for the sites in both Sarasota and Venice.

“Making sure the new drop-ins are well-equipped for not only the peer staff but also for the individuals who attend YANA is a priority,” said Colleen Thayer, NAMI executive director. “We are so grateful to the Community Foundation for supporting our technology needs.”
