By pooling resources together, giving circles enable individuals to achieve a more significant impact with their charitable giving than they can achieve on their own.
What is a Giving Circle?
Giving Circles are a collection of individuals who pool their charitable gifts together to make grants to local nonprofit groups, realizing that one substantial contribution can make an immediate impact in a community. Often, Giving Circles are formed from a group of philanthropic people who are already acquainted with each other and share a common interest or cause, so that they can give and learn together.
Benefits of a Giving Circle
In many ways, people who give are becoming more strategic and social in their philanthropy. Charitable collaboration can be tricky, as people are passionate about the causes they personally care about, so Giving Circles have to learn valuable philanthropic skills and collectively evaluate and make smart decisions about where their gifts will make the most impact. For those who are new to the region, these Circles are a great way to learn about the community’s needs while simultaneously finding a network of like-minded individuals and friends.
