Distinguished Speaker Series

Founded by the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council, we believe in empowering Professional Advisors who help donors make lasting charitable impact.

One way the Community Foundation of Sarasota County recognizes the efforts of area professional advisors (PAs) is by hosting our annual Distinguished Speaker Series, a signature series of educational lectures provided to our community’s PAs, enabling them to earn advanced education credits. These programs are lead by our Community Foundation in partnership with Manatee Community Foundation and the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, with generous sponsorship by area banks.

While the process of estate planning continues to focus on technical factors (tax, asset protection, etc.), there is an evolving call to add to that planning model a focus on clients’ qualitative goals and the need to not only prepare the estate for the heirs but to also prepare the heirs to responsibly receive, manage, maintain, and pass on the estate. We’ll discuss a new type of trust—called the Family Advancement Sustainability Trust (“FAST”)—that is a practical tool to help clients achieve their qualitative estate planning goals.
