The Bells in front of their new home!

Stewart Stearns with Tracey Bell and her daughters
Chelsea Brown and Britney Brown at the Habitat for
Humanity Sarasota, Inc. home dedication ceremony
on July 12.

Tracey Bell and her three children will soon be moving into their brand new Habitat for Humanity home in Jordan’s Crossing, across from Tuttle Elementary school. The Bell home is the second one sponsored by a $50,000 grant from an anonymous donor of the Community Foundation. Our donor was so moved by the emotion of last year’s dedication event that he decided right then and there to sponsor an additional home. Tracey is employed by Palmer Ranch Healthcare & Rehabilitation and is described as “the epitome of a strong tower” by Carolyn Mason of Habitat for Humanity.

Carolyn praises Tracey for “persevering and staying the course” through the long process of qualifying, learning about home ownership and financial responsibilities, and putting in the sweat equity required to build her family’s new home. It is a myth that Habitat for Humanity gives away homes. In fact, all Habitat homeowners are required to make down payments and pay mortgages.

Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, Inc. is on a mission to build 500 homes in the next 10 years. If you’d like to help, or are interested in becoming a homeowner, contact them at (941)365-0700 or at www.SarasotaHabitat.com
