The Kathleen K. Catlin Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded the Pines of Sarasota Foundation a long term Capital Campaign grant of $750,000 for new resident facilities on the 17-acre senior community located in downtown Sarasota. Growing old and running out of financial resources for long term medical care is a frightening proposition for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Since 1948, the Pines of Sarasota has addressed the needs of the elderly in Sarasota, providing specialized nursing care, as well as social and support services and programs in a residential setting, for those of limited means. The grant provides for construction of a new 122-bed skilled nursing and therapy/rehabilitation facility, which will be named for the Catlin Fund.

"By providing this important support for The Pines, the Community Foundation recognizes and applauds them as Sarasota’s longest-term institution offering care and concern for our senior population," said Stewart Stearns, president & CEO. We are proud to a part of the ongoing tradition of ‘neighbor helping neighbor.’"
